Finally improved the look of the SVO. Konig Villains 17x9's w/ 255/40's on all four. The car handles so much better now. :D Thanks to Paul and Lee for the phone consults and Marc for the links.

Very nice -- you managed to stuff 17X9's under there, and they actually FIT...

any problems with rubbing?

The only rubbing now is at full lock on the lower control arms. On the right side, it rubs my lower intercooler pipe, which I need to modify.

Looks good Victor .... did you change out to SN95 stuff?

And, for anyone else wanting some wheels like this, I think I saw a full set with tires for sale on a Cobra forum. PM me if you're interested .. and I'll find the link for you.

Bud, I did the sn95 swap up front w/ 94-95 spindles and 99+ twin piston calipers.

The sn95 front control arms, spindles and calipers will interchange with the svo. You will probably have to go with the stainless braided brakelines up front or adapt the sn95 lines. I went with the Earls stainless braid.

Thanks. The bumpercover needs a little heat applied to the passenger side lower front. The previous owner ran over his garbage can and bent the bracket which in turn made a bulge in the bumpercover. I replaced the bracket and the fender is fine, but need to adjust the cover.

I guess I have to come out. Yes, the 03's will fit all around.

What kind of work did you do? Also, what is the backspacing on those. I know they are 17x9.5 vs. the advertised 17x9's.

Dang dude those look sweet on there. :jawdrop:

Do you know what would be a good size to run without rubbing issue?

Everything is new but the lug nuts.

Backspacing- I have to measure the exact number.

I have some work to do before I start posting stuff on the car. But believe me I'll be on the track this spring. Paint this winter.

It all depends on the wheel your running (i.e. backspacing). I can probably get away with 275/40's on the rear w/ no rub, but will stay with 255/40's up front.

Man, there is just something about the 9L

Love the rims. They look awesome on the car.

As for rubbing, the total dimensions of the 245/45/17 is the same as the V6 225/50/16 and the offset is the same - wouldn't 255/40/17 be the same over all? I had the V6 bright aluminum’s on my 84, just put a set on the 86 2R and with stock ride height only bad shocks or soft setting over bumps will cause them to rub. I was going to look into turning a bit off the inside to eliminate it, but just haven't got to it.

Wade.

I'm kind of new with this whole trying to find wheels that fit... what all did you have to change in order to get these to fit and further, what backspacing did you ask for when you purchased your wheels?

They look great on your 9L

The wheels were purchased through Maximum Motorsports. Backspacing is 6.25". The swap utilized sn95 components up front w/ ranger axle swap in rear. I also purchased new front control arms through Summit.

In order to put '03 cobra's on the SVO you must...
1. Install Stock k-member
2. Install Stock control arms
3. 8.8 rear

In essence you need to change all the suspension geometry to regular mustang. I did this because I wanted to install a complete Maximum Motor Sports setup for road racing. With doing this you are able to go with about any tire/ wheel setup. Also more importantly a Baer brake setup with SN-95 spindals. It’s quite sweet when you see it all fit together.

Thanks for the quick responces...

If I'm switching to the stock k-member specs, can I then use the tubular set ups available with coil overs or will I run into further problems...

Also, would you know what cobra R wheels would fit without any modifications?

Thanks
Rob

check the "BIG WHEEL" thread under the wheels section -- it has TONS of info on what does and don't fit.

Henson, I retained my stock K-member. Just as you, went with the standard fox track width.

The problem with finding wheels for the svo in the 17x9 size is the backspacing. You will need atleast 6.5" backspacing. However, some are using the 95 Cobra R #179 has 6.42 backspacing. The problem with the svo is that it has a track width similar to the sn95, but on a fox body platform. The only way I could alleviate this was to go with the fox track width (and as Henson has done). You could however spend some money on custom offset wheels for the svo.

The wheels I purchased are no longer available in different sizes or offsets from the manufacturer. In fact they discontinued for general sale except exclusively from Maximum Motorsports. There are two other manufacturers of wheels similar to the Konig Villain. They are the SSR Integrals and the Steeda Ultralites.

Those stock, polished wheels look killer on the 9L shots. My 9L wheels need updating. Is there some kind of opinion about this route? How often do you have to polish?
I live geographicaly almost next door to Wheel Worx and that is an option they offer and I need to explore.
Sometime this year (months?) I am gonna have my wheels redone so I would listen to everyone!
Any opinions out there?
