  • motor missing

One day i started my SVO and it was running rough and found out that it was missing. I replaced my car, rotor, plugs, and wires and the car still misses what else could be wrong wirh the car.

you might look closer at the timing....as in, your timing belt may have jumped a tooth or something in that effect. Or, other things to consider...bad gas...dead injector....etc

I know this may sound like a strange question, but what brand/type of ignition parts did you put on?

I ask, because our little motors are somewhat finiky about these items. I have come across several examples where poorly performing new aftermarket pieces were replaced with new Ford/Motorcraft items and the ignition based problems went away.

Bud's points are also valid, so try diagnosing each part one by one and not changing a bunch of things at once. Good luck and let us know what you come up with.

I just posted a reply to "engine miss at 5000 rpm on prem setting". To keep from repeating myself here, check it out. It's just a thought and may help.

Ted does have a point about using Ford/Motorsport parts....that is one quirky thing about SVOs ...well, really weird sometimes. When you replaced all your ignition parts - what brand did you use? Where did you set the plug gap? I know it sounds like a reach, but sometimes it can be that trivial....

                svo missing

i used all motorcraft parts and the plugs were set by my friend who is a ford mechanic. the car worked fine when all of that stuff was replaced but then one day someone breoke into my car and took my stereo and ever since then the car has been running rough, i guess i should have mentioned this in the first place.

                  stolen radio

Is it possible that the thief cut some wires and they are shorting or grounding out or possibly pulled a wire out of a socket or something?. Did they cut the wires that go to the premium fuel switch while stealing the radio?

                  Just some idea's.

Yeah - should have mentioned that....as that sounds like the "cause and effect" point of orgin. Dude...best thing you can do is start testing wires under the dash (something I absolutely hate).

you're not hearing any sucking noises under the dash are you??

there are some vacume hoses under there too.

no i dont hear a sucking noise, i guess the best thing would be to take it to a shop to get a diagnosis.

                          thought

I was thinking, if the misfire is on one cylinder only, then spraying some water on the exhaust manifold runners to find which one doesn't steam up would show which cylinder has the misfire.

No offence, but I dont suggest usuing water on a EX. Manifold.....at any time while the motor is running.

If the guy ripped out the radio, he might have messed up some of the relays behind / under the radio. A loose wire can cause alot of harm indeed...

....i know im trying to find one now....AUUGH
