  • Headlights?

I was lookin at my headlights and realized i need new ones...how hard would it be to convert back to the recessed sealed beams like on the 84's and 85's?

    Thanks

Find an Aerostar in the wrecking yard and take everything you need. Plastic inserts for the screws, mounting frame, springs, trim rings and all the screws. Don't forget the wiring and connector that plugs into the headlamps too.

Be gentle with the parts coming off your car (some of us may need them )

In case you didn't know, you can get reproduction from the original Ford mold, 85.5-86 style flush mounts. They are reasonably priced from SVPU.com and others.

          Aerostar?

What year(s) would have the aerostar hardware that would work for converting back from 86 to 84 headlights?

Any Aerostar with the 6054 headlamps will work. I'd guess up to 85 (?).

I think I've seen the headlite rings in the Help! section.

When going to the boneyard to scrounge for parts, you be well served to also look at econolines, f150's as well as aerostars. I just converted from flush mounts back to sealed beam and used parts from all 3 vehicles. Just so you know.

Also check out the full size Chevy work vans. Alot of them use sealed beams instead of aero. I noticed it last weekend when my buddy who still works for Verizon stopped by while I was tinkering on the SVO. I went and looked at front rear good.

I just switched back to a 84 style light and I used all the parts from my 1979 f-250, the only thing I had to modify was the part the holds the adjusters screw, It was designed to fit in a metal hole and the svo was plastic and much thicker so I bent the little prongs and made it work.
