I just changed my oil and used the K&N filter for the first time works good has that check valve so oil won't run back into motor so now the turbo gets oil quick. But I guess that the Motorcraft also has that too! I have heard from test that the Motorcraft exceeds the Fram filter by far for collecting particles. I run Castroil GTX 10w-30w since rebuild no problems yet cross my fingers! I really should have went the other. my 2 cents !
Since I sort of Hijacked the thread the other day.
I am running the fram sure grip. It makes me happy
But I will be going over to a filter that has the valve in it. I wasnt aware of such a thing. Hey you learn something every day. I am affraid to see what is inside a good filter because I cut every filter open after use to see if there is any supprises inside. I think I saw jimmy hoffa's fingers in the last filter after I replaced the head (yuck).
Used a K&N on my last oil change. It isn't a big deal on this car, but on my previous vehicles that 1" nut can make things alot easer if the filter is in a hard to reach location. But $9 for an oil filter is insane...I usually reach for the Motorcraft filter if it is in stock.
All filters have to have a check valve. The problem is that many have a cheap design of a valve that will leak and allow the oil to drain out. Not to mention the oil bypassing the filter media.
