  • help- whats this thing in the wiring harness

If anyone can tell me what this is and what is does???

if you look on the wiring harness under the hood on the drivers side.... look where the windshield wiper motor plugs into the harness......there should also be a larger grey plug of the same style and also a ROUND PLUG with four prongs..... there should be a (RED/Light Green, RED/Blue, RED/Blue, large GREY/Yellow, and a RED/Yellow hash) wires coming out of this.......................

WHAT DOES THAT PLUG INTO??????????? is it a little round removable thing??? what the part number???

If you remove it will it NOT allow spark/fuel relay to fuction and therefore not allow start-up???

I am at work and my SVO is at home 12 miles away. I will check tonight and reply, if someone else doesn't beat me to it.

ok- here are a couple of pics....

on your cars it should be located under the hood by the firewall.... on the drivers side where the harness comes throught the firewall in the engine bay. Mine are where they are in the pic cause i am hiding a few wires in the fender area.

Anyways.... I need to know what plugs into the red ringed plug. It will be found in the same bunch of wires where your wiper motor plug comes out of.

I need to know the part number and what it plugs into.... a pic would help also.

there should be a RED/GREEN, 2 RED/BLUE, RED/YELLOW hash marks, fat GREY/YELLOW wire connected to this plug-

Man, I just plugged all that stuff into my SVO not more than 2 months ago, but that one isn't ringing a bell.

Are you sure it doesn't plug into the injector harnes?

that would pretty much keep everything you were talking about from working.

I just crawled all over my engine compartment and could not find a connector like that. Your pics have me stumped. I do have the two square gray connectors near the wiper motor, but nothing like that round one. The only thing that is close is the connector for the alternator harness, but that connector is not round, it has a flat on it.

The only large guage yellow wire that I am familiar with is the one that feeds the rear window defroster circuit. I hate to ask more questions, but where does that wire/harness track to?

ok.... my main concern right now is tracing the RED/GREEN wire (wire 16)

I traced it from my steering colume to under tha dash where it ties into a huge plug with many wires..... right under the gauges.... then it comes out and runs through the firewall to THIS plug.

All the time this has power when the key is in the ON position..... but I loose power after this plug.... which means the RED/GREEN wire that feeds the coil is NOT feeding the coil and in return NO spark!!!....... I used a jumper wire tonight and bypassed the plug and i have plenty of spark now.... but I am afraid I am going to mess something up or start a fire-

Without unwrapping my harness I am at a dead end. Looking at my harness and tracing the coil power backward, it looks like they jump out of one large harness that runs over the strut tower and jump into the harness that goes into the interior under the driver's side hood hinge. The wires go through a connector that is a 6 terminal (2x3), gray unit. The other gray connector next to it connects to the wiper motor. These are the only connectors in that section of my engine compartment.

I compared what I found to my EVTM, but my connectors do not match 100% to this book. Its lists connector C112 as being located in the LH fender apron area, being black and having 3 terminals. This is the connector that the R/LG (16) wire is supposed to run through. It also lists connector C135 as being located in the same area, being gray and having 8 terminals. This is the connector that the DG/Y D (11) wire is supposed to run through. Like I said, I only can find one 6 terminal, gray connnector in that area.

I hope someone else can help you out, I am toast at this point. Sorry.

                              Ok, dude....

I am going with Ted on this one. I just looked at my whole engine compartment too, and I found the exact same thing as Ted stated earlier.

The only thing I couldn't really see was the injector harness (too dark) but that plug does look familiar, but don't know why! I will look closer at the injector area tomorrow morning, and repost my findings...

My guess is that is not a standard plug for your car. I will try and locate those particular wire colors in the morning, sorry I wasn't much help tonight...
