I have an issue with the BCS on the '84 SVO that I recently picked up, the car is only making 7 PSI. It doesn't matter what position the premium switch is in, it will not make any more than 7 PSI and that's on an Autometer boost guage so I'm sure it's accurate. I want to just remove that BCS from the equation, can I do that and will it affect my ability to take advantage of the premium settings?? Thanks

If you remove the stock BCS and install a manual boost controller, the premium switch will still adjust the timing. However, it will not be able to adjust the boost unless you get a two stage manual boost controller.
If you used 87 octane and the MBC was set to about 17psi, you could blow the engine due to detonation. If you go to the MBC, just leave it in premium mode and use premium gas.
I would check the things Pat said first and then go from there.Mike S

Thanks for the replies, this is my first '84 and the BCS is unlike anything I've seen before. I have plans to dump the CAT as it's the stocker and I have no emmisions testing where I live. I only run 93 octane in all my cars so no need to worry.

Simple advice
Have you tried unbolting your downpipe from your turbo? Try it, fairly easy and drive it hard. If in fact you do build good boost then youll know the poblem is in the exhaust. If not, its eliminated.
