  • Where oh Where can my oil leak be?

Ok guys please help me. I just purchased my first SVO. It has 78k on it and has been driven very little in the last ten years. On the way home I blew oil all over the place. When I got home and inspected it I saw that the rocker arm cover was oil soaked and had a cork gasket under it. So I replaced it the next day with the Ford rubber gasket and also replaced the throttle body and intake gasket while I had it apart. I then put it together and degreased everything I could, to see If I had fixed the problem. Now It still shows signs of leaking while under boost. The rocker cover looks dry now, so does the firewall and bell housing (on top). The turbo lines look dry and so Does the pressure sender. I put it on a rack yesterday to try and find the leak but It is unclear where it is coming from. The pan gasket looks fine and dry and the silver dust shield is only wet on the engine side. That makes me want to rule out the rear main. Any Thoughts? I know someone has been through this also I just hope I can find them. If I drive the car easy it will not leak much. but if I drive it hard and fast it will get the cat conv wet everytime.
can you guys help me make a list of possible culprits?
    I figure it this way:

I may have gotten the rocker gasket on wrong(very unlikely)
    Rear Main
    Pressure sending unit
    oil pan gasket
turbo lines I have not seen yet?
filter? it is wet on the bottom.
    dipstick tube?

That is all I have How about ya'lls ideas.
    Thank You in Advance

I have been there and my problem was the dipstick tube...mine was blowing out the top and pushing the dipstick up but I have also seen them leak at the base. The fact that it is doing it under boost means that the crankcase is getting pressurized...do you have the correct PCV valve in it? you should only use the Ford one...

It appears to be the ford one. It is the inline style but I did not remove it. I guess I should huh?

Remove it and check the part number....even if it is a motorcraft unit, it might be the wrong one. I "think" it should be EV-127 but I don't have one near me right now....find out what your number is and I'll get the correct one to compare and post it here later...

I would just replace it. and like Paul said, make sure it is the ford, or motorcfaft replacement.

dont use the stuff at the regular auto-parts stores, they wont hold the pressure.

I think they are all of $2.50 each...

just a thought, when I first got my svo the oil return line off the turbo leaked terribly. They are a tough unit to see because they are semi-concealed by the wastegate actuator and heat shield. It is made of very thin tubing with a large diameter like tubing line for a propane operated appliance. There is a small paper gasket that mates it to the turbo. This line goes through the turbo support bracket and if it leaks it runs down the bracket and everywhere. Just a thought.

Checked the number and my memory didn't fail me...lol. The motorcraft number for the correct PCV is EV-127-A....Ford p/n E5ZZ-6A666-A.
