  • how to clean cloth seats ??

humm -- I swear I thought I remembered a thread on how to clean up the cloth on the seats, but I can't find it --

anyone got any good seat cleaning tips ???

I just took the seats out of my 85, and put them in my 86 -- those ripped leather were starting to get on my nerves..

Thought I might like to make a decent showing in Nashville

    Cleaning Cloth Seats

I like to vacuum them well first. Then use Simple Green like it says here:

Should I remove the well plugs in the floorboard before going to the steam cleaner? My car seems to want to retain water when I steam clean the interior.

they aren't bad looking -- considering they came out of a car with 147k on it...

Future plans include a leather kit for the originals, and probably a set of nice aftermarkets for the 85
        just a bit dirty --

Naw, just roll it upside down, open the side windows and sun roof and all the water runs out just fine!

On a more serious note, those seats look great for cloth with that kind of mileage! They should clean up well!

hey -- that is a good idea -- Didn't you see those bars they make for cars -- you attach them to the car, and you can roll the car up on it's side, or top.

I like to pull the seats out, spray on some Castrol Super Clean or Simple Green (the Simple Green smells better) scrub with a brush and water as needed and then hose off with the pressure washer. If you dont have acess to a pressure washer, the hose works just fine. Let the seats dry in the sun to avoid a musty smell.
Duhhh!!!! Why dont ya put a 5.0 in that car George???

I used to use castrol stuff w/ a short scrubbing brush, then finse out the surface w/ a spray bottle of water and a shop vac.

then I baught a small bissell upolstery (sp?) cleaner and use that.

its amazing how much cleaner the seats get!! it kinda makes you sick when you see how dirty your seats were before!!

Just got done cleaning my seats and carpet. I did/used the following supplies:

                  Hoover Steamvac
Eagle One Pro Detailer Extractor Shampoo (dilute 10 parts water, one part shampoo)
                  Brush wrapped in towel
                  Spray bottle with shampoo/water
                  Spray bottle of water

The reason for wrapping the brush with a towel was to lessen the abrasivness of the brissels.

I first sprayed the shampoo onto the fabric to spot treat trouble areas and then scrubbed them. After that, I sprayed clean water on the fabric and then followed with the Stemvac. Things turned out really well. A lot of work, but I first removed the seats and carpet from the car. HTH.
