  • Mods For Alum Drive Shaft

My exhaust guy ( a aman who owns a Midas Franchise) tells me he has to re-route a little around my new alum driveshaft (passeneger side muffler hits). Is this news to you guys?

The exhaust is not run correctly if it hits the driveshaft....also keep in mind one thing...is the car on a drive on lift and it is hitting? or is it hanging on a rack with the suspension extended? if the later then it may not hit when the car is on the ground. But there is no need to "mod" a properly installed exhaust system for driveshaft clearance. Every aftermarket exhaust system out there will clear the aluminum driveshaft.

      Thanks PAul
I'll keep you posted. This guy is good so I trust his word. He put on the custom system and I believe him if it hits.
Will you make it to Carlisle?

I have seen them hit before but it has been due to an improper or slightly off installation of the muffler. If you need the number, I know the best guy in the country so far for exhaust work...he is in Dunkirk, MD behind Blockbuster in the Festival at Dunkirk Shopping Center...name is Dan @ Specialty Exhaust.

Not sure if I will make it to Carlisle or not yet this year.....

          Paul,
You hit the nail on the head...once again.
I just went over to the shop where I'm having some work done, and they were going about the install wrong. Enter bright young Mustang nut and he did the install by passing the DS up beyong the trans , then back and then forward. 1/4 inch clearance with rear "hanging" down so no problems there. I got two different manufacturers' brake cables, Raybestos and Wagner from Motion Dynamics and the Wagner doesn't quite work! Spring is way too long and coupling ear at caliper is tooo thick gauge metal. So I am in search of another Raybestos cable from Motion Dynamics and in this area as well. (Hopefully I don't have to eat this other cable.) Does anyone know if the Wagner cable can be made to work if I cannot find another Raybestos?? In real quick time too???
          Thanks for your input!
