Outside Mirror Removal

Hi!

I have an '86 SVO, and want to repaint the outside mirrors, but don't have any idea how to remove them. When I remove the inner mirror adjuster, I see two small nuts, which I assume hold the mirror to the door. Unfortunately, I don't know how to remove the adjutment cables so I can remove the mirror. Can anyone give me a hint?

It is simple really. First, pull off the rubber nob on the mirror adjuster. Then loosen a small set screw to remove the inner plate from the cable assembly. Then remove the two nuts holding the outer mirror to the door. I believe they are 7 or 8mm hex. You will need to push the rubber gromment that the cables go through to remove completely.
