  • Oil in Turbo

I have oil seeping from the comp. side to the hot side causing smoke out exhaust. Is there a rebuild kit to repair this and who sells it, or should I go with a rebuilt from Motion Dynamics. I also found a brand new one from Perf. Parts for $800 buck, little steep right now.

Thanks for the advice and info.

If you are convinced the rebuild is the way to go, there are a few companied that sell rebuild kits ( like Turbo City )

But i have always been leary of bebuilding something that need to be spun to 100,000 RPM.

Ya dont need a "new" turbo, I would just have yours rebuilt. If you can handle the car being down for a bit of time, give a few turbo vendors a call and do some shopping.

      oil in turbo

      Hi, guys.

Here's maybe an acceptable compromise. If you get a rebuild kit, you could do the disassembly, install the "easy" parts, then take it to a reputable turbo shop to balance the rotating assembly & put it back together. Since it spins so fast, the whole rotating assembly must be dynamically balanced together, to an extreme level of balance, or it will literally shake itself to pieces. I took mine to a turbo shop to do the whole business; he did a complete rebuild, installed a new compressor wheel and did a complete balance all for less than $400. It's not that hard to do for these guys, since they have the experience and the right equipment. Good luck.
