  • Reunion 04 Dyno day

ok guys -- I have a local guy that has a Dyno, and am working to get things worked out to have it ready for the reunion.

BUT -- We have run into a few snaggs...

My original plan was to have it at the show -- BUT -- the dyno guy needs 220 power (which the show site can't supply) and I'm afraid the locals would not be happy with the noise we would make.

    SO --

Would anyone be interested in having dyno day BEFORE the DRAGSTRIP trip on Friday, or we could try to set it up for thursday.

so vote in the poll ---

Couple of Q's....#1 being how much for how many pulls....? or will it be by the hour...?

I dunno if we would get a "full days" worth of cars for a session on Thurs, but im up for anything.

that all depends on interest, and pricing will be divide up --

We normally do (at our BAMA Dyno days) X$ for 3 pulls, $Y for 5 pulls --

this is kinda what I had in mind -- at our Bama days, we can normally work in about 15 cars, -- and that is runnig it straight time -- Everyone having a few minutes to do tuning between runs.

      does that help ??

well, I am pretty sure we won't be in town till Friday evening (like we usually are).

However, don't make plans on our behalf since we have a local dyno anyway.

          dyno

Eric: Are you planning to have this dyno at the drag strip? If so, that will mean that we will have to spend most of the day at the strip . The two Bama Dyno days were used by fifteen of us, but it basically took all day to do it. If you are going to reserve a pre-determined time for each participant, that might work if they can find the place again. It is not an easy place to find, and I am not sure that I would want to hang around a closed drag strip all day and then stay for the night racing without returning to the motel for freshening up.
I know that you are doing your best and I appreciate your efforts, but I would prefer the dyno testing closer to the site of the auto-cross or car show or in an area that would give us the ability to access our rooms easier.
I am not complaining, but you said that this was a poll and you wanted input. I personally appreciate your efforts and applaude you for taking on this tasks. You provided good accomodations last year and most everything worked out pretty good, so I am confident that you will do even better this year given your previous years experience.
If the electrical power is a big problem, why not rent a big generator and add the costs to the dyno runs. Divided by 15 or whatever the number might be, I predict that possibly more than fifteen people will want to dyno their car, the overall costs would not be that high. In the event that say 30 people wanted to dyno their car, it probably would take longer than a day anyway.
Dyno numbers could be another type of competition for this reunion and this might be an area that could have a lot of interest if done in a competitive manner. Need I say more, we don't have an competitive people, do we?
Looking forward to having a great time and seeing all the guys and girls again. I wonder if Ryan and Ty will have a small enough seat belt for the new co-pilots they will have in their efforts to return to the fast four? Ralph

The dyno is going to be held at the guy's shop that owns the dyno --

It is about 28 miles north (right up i-75) from the hotel -- this guy does have a moble dyno, but with the local traffic, it would be very hard to come up with a place to run it -- the locals are not going to be happy about the noise, and then the power thing adds to it even further.

It is going to be tight to get 15 people run through, then head for the dragstrip -- so I am going to HAVE to schedule time a little tighter than our normal dyno session...

I wish I could come up with a closer place to have the dyno, but this is the best I can come up with so far.
