  • SVO Grey Interior trim color

I have found the perfect match and I mean perfect match for the trim paint inside the car. SEM, who makes a wide variety of Vinyl and plastic dyes sells Part # 15303 - Graphite Grey. I matched it on a rear trim panel by comparing an overlap section(no sun fade) to a painted section with the new color.....WOW absolutely perfect. I got it at a local automotive paint store that deals only with body shops in the Rochester, NY area. I've used SEM products before and they are high quality, never a disapointed. At $9.00 a can you can't beat it.

I went out yesterday and bought a can of SEM Graphite Grey. I had an extra set of kick panels to test it on. They turned out very nice and smooth. But here is my question. I pulled a kick panel out of my parts car, cleaned it with soap and water in the bath tub. Then I compared it to the one I just painted. They were very close but I could still tell a very slight shade difference. Being curious I pulled and cleaned a kick panel from my other two cars. I laid all four side by side. Guess what none of them are quite the same color. All have very slight shade differences. I chose to compare kick panels because they don't get much direct sun. So here is my question. What is the "True" SVO interior trim color if I have three cars and none of the grey are exactly the same color? Do you just find something very close and live with it? Was they that much deviation, shade wise, from the factory?

Please all give your 2.3 cents worth!!!!

I've seen many interior pieces vary in shade. Guess it depends on who mixed the color batch that day or maybe it was a difference in supplier (Ford is known to use different vendors for outsourcing the same part/paint). The interior color is the graphite gray or euro gray....better known as 'SVO Gray' now-a-days. If the SEM paint matches pretty darn close - I would (this is my opinion) paint all interior trim with that color. No one will be able to tell the difference without pulling a piece of your trim out of the car and comparing side by side with one from another car....and that's not likely to happen.
