  • Turbo Bracket

So does anyone know if the bracket that supports the turbo from the under side is absolutly necessary?

    Thanks!

it is only necessary if you want your manafold to remain crackless...

leave that little bugger off, and you can pretty much bet you'll have a nice crack in a month or so!

        "Use the Brace Luke!"

Definitely use the brace and make sure there are no cracks in the brace or the manifold. I have cracked a turbo brace in the past and it cost me a new ATR header. I have yet to see a manifold or header that can handle the weight of the turbo and down pipe when in use. The temp goes up, the metal gives a little and the header or manifold will crack. Maybe not the first time but soon.
If you need to part and to not have a junk yard around or want to go through the hassle of removing one, call Jim or Brian at Motion Dynamics and you can get a used one. I just bought one from him a month ago and I am sure he has more or can get one for you. It was about $27, which in my opinion beat junk yard diving unless you are already there looking for other parts.

        Good luck!

I have not had one on one of my GT's for over a year now. Running a ported E6 and no cracks yet.

If you plan on running or are running an ATR use the brace. It will slow how fast it cracks

GT, like gator said in the other post,... YOU ARE A FREAK!!

I wasn't going to tell everyone how stupid I was, but..

I cracked one in 2 weeks, because I thought that brace was extra hardware

            You're just lucky, !!!

Better to be safe than sorry.

If ya need one, let me know I have a couple that are completely bead-blasted and painted.

Thanks Gator. I have a few, but none look very good.

I am still trying to decide if I want to put the big valve head on it and leave it or take a million pictures of Lou Sitar's 6000 mile turbo Anny and go back to stock/restored.

Then I would drop everything in the black/grey one.
