  • Shifter Rattle??

i have an annoying rattle coming from my shifter and i think it is the dampener at the base of the shifter. i does not rattle much at low rpms but when the revs climb higher the rattle gets louder and louder the faster i go it is very annoying and some times louder then my exhaust tone will the bushing be bad it sound like it is in pieces and i might need a new one. can i use the one they sell for 83 to 93 mustangs? the black rubber bushing?

The rattle is caused by general wear of the "cup bushing" that the shifter ball resides. You can get a replacement from 50Resto for about $6. Or you can do a temporary fix bt shimmings the ID of the bushing.

Could be the rubber insulator that goes on the shifter bottom E4ZZ-7246A, I have one if you need it.

          could be shift linkage

I had the same problem about a week ago. I just tightened up the shift linkage and the problem was solved

          good luck
