I want to find out what gear is in the car I have.
84 svo I was told by the owner when I got the car that it had a 8.8 4.10 gear. With the car on stands I turned the wheel one rev.
The drive shaft turned just over 3 1/4 turns.
Can I find out what gear I have with this info. Thanks

Hmmm ... that sounds like a 3.27 gear. But, unless you start pulling things apart (gear ratios are stamped on pinion) - you really aren't going to know.

I want a higher gear for highway. running 3000 rpms at 65 mph.

Am I right in saying the gear is how many times the drive shaft turns to the wheel. Like if it turned little over 4 times it would be a 4.10 rear?????
Have the stock t5 so it is a low 5 gear. Have a wct5 ready for a rebuild and a 88tc 8.8 rear to go in it later think it is 3.55 rear.

I ran the tc in forth gear most of the time on back roads so I don't drive fast unless on the I-20

Put a chalk mark on both rear tires before you do the test again. Put the mark where you can see it while spinning the driveshaft, like on the inside. This will validate or deny the accuracy of your test. If you spin the driveshaft just >4 times and the chalk marks stayed in synch, then you have validated the test. If the chalk marks move in opposite directions or didn't rotate in tandem, then there's no limited slip action that would otherwise confirm the ratio the easiest way. The next way to check is to just pull the diff cover, count the teeth of the ring & pinion and divide ring by pinion.
