Just as it says, when i brake hard my seats seem to fly forward. I thought i read somewhere that it was normal for the SVO seats to be able to flip forward without the lever being pullet up on the seat back lower. So then why is that lever there for then? And that when the seat sensed? and hard brake, it would lock up? Im sick of having my seat fly forward so i gotta lay it back further.
Same thing happens on mine. I don't think there is anything you can do. They changed it on later Mustangs so that you had to flip the lever on the seat.
Eyelaw, yeah i recline mine back too but this is how i normailly drive with it, i like my seat reclined not all up and almost 90 degrees.
Kiwi, i tried the cooler full of beer idea but it makes it a pain in the @$$ when i gotta pull it off just raise up my lower seat exposing my cheater bottles of NAWSS!

Then I guess mine is broken...because mine lock on a normal hard stop. I've tested it out more than once.
edit: I checked my 1986 owners manual, and on page 47 it makes a specific reference to the fact that the seats should lock on a hard stop. Not only that, they are also supposed to lock when going down a steep hill. The Oct. 1983 Road & Track article also makes a note of how the SVO seats are designed to stay put in a hard stop.
