  • Rubber Air Dams on SVO's?

I don't have one on my 86 SVO, but they are on just about every fox body out there. This is the black rubber lip that is under the front end, to help direct air up to the radiator I assume. Did it come on the SVO's?

I have never seen a SVO that had one...

the nose on the SVO is different than anything out there...

It is possible that they are just not needed because of the different aerodynamics ...

The SN95 body Mustangs have an item that could be described like this (it's hard plastic - not rubber) and I guess it does direct air...other than that, I don't have a clue what he's talking about.

Whoops, you are right, its a hard plastic piece that sits about a foot back from under the front bumper cover. My 89 5.0 LX had it new. Only reason why I'm asking is that I saw a pic of an SVO that had one, and started to wonder. We all know the SVO has the vents between the fog lights nobody else does, so I'm assuming that is doing the trick.

I have wondered the same thing as I had one on my 88 GT that was attatched below the radiator on the core support. I saw a picture of a concept SVO that had a plastic or rubber peice that ran across the the bottom of the front bumper that looked pretty cool.

It helps cooling, a LOT, especially on the V8 cars. I would bet that the SVO cooling system is enough to handle the factory HP, and even some mods. The V8 cooling system is marginal on a modded 5.0, and inadequate on a stroker V8. The guys on the roadrace and autocross mustang list indicate that this dam does a lot of good, and if you have a highly modded car, or a stroker, you need to add to it to keep the car cool. That is what I read on the RRAX list, anyway.
