  • exhausts.....

My exhaust rusted through and is disconnected in the middle and then i went to my brothers house and now the muffler and the pipes are hanging on the ground.....

If i cant get them welded i guess im gonna need a new 1...
Should i get magnaflows, flowmasters (which are already on the car when i got it), or what?

what are prices expected(estimated)and does anyone know who might have them in new york(midas, meineke, etc). I wanna try and avoid getting them online cuase i kinda need them ASAP.

Price right night is gonna be alittle tight i think for me 2. but opinions would help and I need to know what this stuff does, does it add horsepower cuase if it does and i do need new ones i might as well get the good stuff...

The mufflers may still be good but may have been installed on to an old exhaust pipe. If you can tie up the mufflers so they don't kill themselves on the way to Midas, give that a try and get a quote from them. They'll probably work with you if you tell them you're a starving student.

      cheap way out

Our cars even though being SVOs a standard LX exaust will fit. Not much performance gain with stock stuff but it wont break the bank. Midas or meinakee will work fine all theyare going to do is look up the part# for the direct fit replacement and sell you a cat back system. I have yet to find a midas that will do custom work without a lot of coaxing. I had to fight tooth and nail to have just a muffler put on my truck. the wanted to sell the whole system only for 500 bucks vs a 30 mufler.

        Spend it once.....

.....the turbos like exhaust work.....As free flowing as you can.....What year is your car? I assume a later yr since you talk mufflers (plural).....Magnaflows prolly the route to go......non chambered.......

I'm real happy with the Magnaflows on my cars! Quiet AND efficient. I wouldn't use any other kind on my SVO's!

well.. i found a place that can order the magna flows but they couldnt find anything for svo or the lx(that will fit u said) so they ordered me the 3rd best exhaust.. if for any reason those dont fit they will get me another they said but would u guys happen to know the part number for the svo or whatever for magna flows?
also does it matter if the 5.0 version goes in? these questions the guy wanted 2 know, he looked all over and couldnt find nothing...
thank u for the help guys.
i forget the name of the exhaust he ordered tho ill ask tomarrow.

Magnaflow does not make an entire exhaust system for the SVO (or for the GT 5.0 for that matter). They do make a very fine line of mufflers, however. For an 86 I would go with 2 of the 2 1/2" inlet /outlet universal fit Magnaflows with a 14" case length (one muffler for each side of the duals).

In an ofset/offset configuration that would be Magnaflow #11236 in aluminized steel and #14236 in stainless steel.

Check them out at : www.magnaflow.com

Are you using the Pacesetter pipes with the Magnaflow mufflers? What is the diameter of the exhaust pipes? Are the ends stainless?

Looks like you'll get the 2.5 inch V-6 set with a custom made Y-pipe and stainless tips. That should work just fine.

If I get to the reunion, ask me to tell you about my business story with Pacesetter. Just make sure that someone is wearing a condom when dealing with them.

Is this true!?!? I thought all engines needed at least a little bit of back pressure...

Sounds of the car is one of the most important things for me. I enjoy loud almost rediculous sounding exhaust. Not like those ricers with the coffee can strapped on the bumper but just loud race style. I have a borla XS straight through muffler on my 73 240z with 2.5 exhaust. I really like the way it sounds and would imagine an open non-muffled system would sound similar.

Just wanted to know if anyone really had an svo with little to no restrictions... Also anyone heard of 40bob.com ??? They have some downpipes for like 90 bucks...
