  • Antenna Delete?

Anyone shaved the antenna with an antenna delete plate?

I get poor reception and I'll just either delete the stereo or put a CD player in.

Comp-preps came this way -- antena delete plate on the fender, and radio delete plate in the dash.

5.0 Resto sells the antenna delete plate / plug. It's about $5.00 or somewhere around there. It has locating pins and pressure sensitive adhesive backing. Just peel and stick. I've got one on my 92 coupe.

The guy I bought my comp prep from had an antenna and chaep cassette. I took the antenna off and put on the delete plate from PPI I think. Was a lot more than $5.00. All I listen to is cd's anyway. I always got comments about too!

I don't know about PPI but I just got mine from 5.0 Resto and I'm pretty sure it wasn't more than $10. It's just a small piece of plastic that sticks on. Not much to it. If and when you do remove your antenna be sure to plug the hole where the wire passes through to under the dash... Don't need no bugs or water getting in there!

                antenna delete

the antenna delete plug(plate) for the fender is still available from ford. the antenna delete plate for the dash has NOT been available from ford for many years. as i recall. there is a dash plate for the 84-85 and one for the 85 1/2-86 and they are different.

Does anyone still sell these? PPI is sold out, and I can't find any reference to them at 5.0 Resto.

The 79-84 are the same and the 85-86 dash plates are the same...

There is a reproduction dash plate is being made, PPI sells them and someone on ebay usually has one. They are around $20.

Latemodel Restoration Supply has them on their site and catalog for $14.95. If you go to the web site use this route.

Mustang Parts > Exterior & Body > Fender > Antenna Base Bezel

I'm sure it's available other places too.

                        Thanks, I just overlooked it.

I'm putting a gauge panel in the radio slot, and hooking up an iPod (with a miniature amp) in the glove box to power the factory speakers. I'll post details when I'm done.
