  • The Wiper Motor

I was thinking about taking out the wiper motor to gussy it up a bit. Maybe paint the housing with that "cadmium" paint from Eastwood. The Haynes I have makes it look simple. Any hints, or is it that simple? ..... Remove the cowling and the "clip"?

    ...it will be fine

...but whatever you do DON"T remove the casing....I did mine nad found that the magnet inside(?) prevents you from putting it back nice and easy...I finally managed to put it bacin place and a little later the motors stop working...did I do something wrong?...most likely...maybe someone here can provide better advice so I can learn too!!.....good luck in Vegas

      Wiper motors

I had the same problem with the magnets. You undo the two bolts on the end of the can and getting the brushes lined up again is really tough. I've also tried the Eastwood cad paint and it looks like cheap gold spray paint (IMHO). I just so happens that a certain someone has NOS wiper motors in the member's only section but in the immortal words of Forrest Gump, "That's all I've got to say about that".

        Oh, I forgot

Chris, I almost forgot, remove the cowl grille and pull off the retainer clip on the bellcrank. Slip off the wiper transmission rod and unbolt (from the engine side) the three self tappers that go thru the motor bracket and into the firewall. Unplug the harness and tilt the motor down and to the middle of the car and angle the bellcrank out of the firewall. Presto, done! Be careful not to damage the ground wire and rubber bushing combo and be careful of the foam seal on the back of the motor plate. 20 minute job at the max.
