I'm looking for ideas and / or options for tech sessions at this years reunion. As mentioned in a thread about transmissions Mike F. suggested a T5 instructional / rebuild session. I think we could also throw in a caliper rebuild, how to set timing, or maybe a boost controller install. This could maybe done in conjunction with the dyno runs if that is still being discussed? I'm just looking for some input. My intentions are not to commit anybody to working at the reunion when they would rather be just hanging out.

I think this would be a great idea what about showing a complete tune up and adjusting the tps, timing, idle , cleaning bypass valve.... w/motorcraft parts. So you have a good base to continue mods on.
Alot of people still have questions on this
This year I might be bringing 2 cars so I could let one be tuned up you might have to twist my arm

Hello all!
I guess this post MAKES me confirm that I would like to attend again! HAD A BLAST LAST YEAR!!! (And Ken got his dues paid for free)!!!
I owe it to the club to offer (the shade of the trailer-would AC if I had time) and bring a rebuilt long block. By bringing the block and head seperate maybe we could assemble and use for
"timing belt" training.
I thought about hauling the eng anyway as I would rather sell to an SVO fan (than to a conversion via Ebay)
Let me know if working on a clean engine on a stand would be fun? Plus if someone is buying they could see inside and what what parts it is assembled.
I'd need to get some items together (there is time) but currently I'm buying 351C parts (for the Boss) and my head isn't on 2.3 EFI T/C's

EXCELLENT!!!!Originally posted by Eyelawdoc
Pat Pearson and NYeric could do an install class for their front strut brace!
As for Flemming handling the tech class for a bottom end/long block/whatever rebuild ... I say, "Yes!" But first someone will have to pull his hand from Mark's box

I'd enjoy seeing a traclok rebuild, and any rear end work like gear swaps - very fuzzy topic there for me.
I'll attend these sessions, this is a great idea. T5 rebuild session would be awesome!
I'd look forward to listening to Mike teach, details to a fault and a sense of humor is good entertainment. I got a lot of save my butt help out of him last year.-James Price- '84 SVO 9W leather, SVO #124

Add to my own thread...
I wonder if they have a dry erase board / easel at the hotel we can use? While maybe not a tech session I would enjoy some discussion over a few beers about the physics / properties of improving handling. Specifically things about center of gravity, front to rear weight distribution / transfer, wheel offset / bearing load, tire side-loading... I don't exactly know the formulas but do understand some things and some things I'm not quite sure. I could probably buy some books, and try to stay awake reading them after a crappy day at work, which would probably take a lifetime, but it would be more fun to discuss in the company of fellow SVO'ers. There was a two day course offered recently at Panoz / Road Atlanta but it was over a thousand bucks and you had to have some kind of pre-existing mechanics certification which I didn't recognize or can remember now...

I saw someone mention basic tune-up and settings (tps, etc). What about the basics of reading the codes from the EEC-IV. I can even show how to make a code scanner with a few clip leads, and LED and resistor (read: JT's cheap version of a code scanner).
Just a thought.....
