Power Window

Power Window on drivers side of my 86 just quit working..
I am not electrically inclined..any ideas??

95% chance it is either the brushes in the motor or the gear in the motor. Either way it is an easy fix. Pull the door panel and probe the wires going to the motor. Check for voltage when you toggle the switch.

Power window motor

Thanks, I am going to take the door panel off this evening and check it out. however I would have thought that it it were motor gear or brushes, I would be able to hear the motor trying to work when I toggle the switch. I notice you are from TX, what general area are you in..

I am in Carrollton, probably pretty close to you. From what I have seen the brushes wear out then the motor does not work at all. Loses contact on the armature. There is a 3 sided nylon thingy inside the gear that eventually breaks the then it freewheels. It is hard to hear the motor. Let me know if you need any help with it.

Bud, thanks for the reply...I actually live in Grand Prairie, right off of Great Wouthwest Parkway...I al going to take a look at the motor, but I think I can probably fix it..it nice to know that there is someone close by that is willing to help out. I have several 5.0 Mustangs but never a SVO. I had a 92 coupe with the full Griggs also. man that thing was awsome...Thanks again
