  • Stockers or Cobra replicas?

When I bought my 1C 85.5 the prevoius owner(s) put a set of chrome 16" Cobra replica wheels on it and did who knows what with the stockers.

Well by the grace of allah I came across another SVO owner in my town who is looking for a set of Cobra wheels just like mine and he says he'll trade for his stockers. He said they are definitley aged and one of them has a small scuff on the lip from a curb.

Is this a good trade? I'm not sure if I should keep the cobras or grab the stockers!?

    Is a scuff repairable?

Just about anything is repairable on an aluminum rim. Cost is the limiting factor. Shipping it off for repair adds to the cost at $10-20 per wheel. Try to find a local place that you can check out their work. Prices range from $50-125 per wheel. That will get you minor repairs and a complete refinish. Mounting and balancing are extra. Refinishing the other three wheel, also extra. I know there are places in MD and PA. I used the place in PA (Wheel Collision Center). You can probably find them in almost any larger town.

Please join the SVOCA and support our vendors. There is a vendor that does excellent work on repairs / refinishing and prices are very good with the members discount. To view the members only section you must join. The dues alone will save you lots of $$$ on everything from wheels to shifter & steering wheel recovering.

I think I've decided to keep my cobra replicas and im gonna wait until the guy can sell me the stockers.

How much should I expect to pay for the wheels in the condition I described?

I think it would be nice to have a set of stockers around to keep safe while i use the Cobra's for daily driving.

There is currently a set in the for sale section with 2 new tires and 2 good tires WITH lug nuts for $250. This is a good price. For just a set of rough wheels with no lugs and some curb rash I wouldn't pay more than $100. I had 5 1/2 sets at one time but now have only 4 sets. Also try to roll them on a flat concrete to check for out of round / dents / bent.
