  • Rotten Seat Foam

    Exactly what the subject implies...

Does anyone sell the foam seat buns for the fronts? Will seat foam from other years/models work? I haven't had much luck with buying a used pair. Any ideas on restoration, short of buying a big block of foam and trimming it to fit...

I was hoping to avoid buying a complete upholstry kit, considering the condition of the rear seats which are nearly perfect.

    Any suggestions?

Go to an auto upholstery supply house. Look in the phone book, as there are several in the L.A. area. Buy some uncut foam rubber of the appropriate thickness and density. Cut it to size to fit the foam pieces removed from your seats with an electric carving knife. Use it to sculpt the foam pieces into most any shape you need.

    Don't laugh, it works!

yup -- what he said --

that foam is killer, but there is a 'art' to the sculpting part
