  • To rebuild or not to rebuild

I was wondering if it would be cheaper to rebuild the SVO turbo or to just buy a new one.

I took mine to a reputable turbo shop for a rebuild. He put in new seals & bearings, replaced the compressor wheel (it had a bent blade), and balanced the rotating assembly for less than $400. Hope that helps. Good luck.

I just sent mine to Turbo Specialties, as advertised here on this site. Good people and real knowledgable. I talked to them about the rebuild and I'm going with an upgrade...just because. I asked the same question a little while ago, and the best answere I got was, " do you really want to mess with something that spins at a bazillion rpm's"

Well, i work on 1700 hp turbine engines, and yes, we even leave those tolerances for the highly experienced people.

So, I feel its worth it to have someone do it, and they give a 1 year guarentee if you replace the oil supply line ($30.00). I was sold..IMHO..
