Before asking a generic question like that, you may want to search the forum to see what other questions have already been answered..
It would also be helpful to know what car you are talking about, there are a lot of subtle diferences between them.
There are so many ways to go from where you are right now...
the starting points are usually
1 turn up the boost
2 better exhaust
3 turn up the boost some more
That's all I can give you with the info you supplied...Eric C

hp increase
I have a 1984 SVO 2.3L turbo. Most of the motor and car actually has recently been rebuilt. Paint and minor body work is left.
My question is...I want to increase hp. How do I turn up the boost on the turbo? I dont know a great deal about the 4-cyl. Ford motors is the main reason I ask. You help is appreciated.

Well, jakef - I'll give you the basic "where to start" tips...then you'll need to ask expanded questions from there.
1. You'll need to purchase an adjustable boost valve. It will be replacing your stock Boost Control Silenoid. Here's 2 links to look at for suitable Boost Valves. http://www.boostvalve.com and http://www.turborepair.com/pages/sbc.html - They are VERY easy to install with hand tools. With a good exhaust and fuel system - you'll be able to run 18+ psi of boost.
2. a K&N cone air filter - it will be replacing the stock air filter box and will be attached directly to the VAM (vane air meter). Contact www.svpu.com for the correct part number - his shop number is 205.629.3126
3. Exhaust. This will be the most expensive parts and hardest to install ...thus far. BUT, you will be able to FEEL the power increases from this mod lke you wouldn't believe. I would suggest that you contact SVPU again on this as well. He'll be able to tell you about a couple of different approaches on this...but, you'll get the best HP increases with the least amount of a headache with a 3in Downpipe, No Cat, and single 2 1/2" cat back.
4. Larger fuel pump and Fuel Pump Regulator. With the increases in HP you'll be getting from turning up the boost and a free flowing exhaust - you'll be on the ragged edge of detonation with the stock fuel pumps - you'll need better fuel delivery and control flow at the same time.
5. Don't forget to tune up the car properly and use Motorcraft parts to avoid any problems. The 2.3liter is very particular about what plugs, wires, and PCV valve it likes....so avoid the headaches and stick with Motorcraft parts.
Now - this isn't everything you can do to increase HP....but it's a start. Get this 5 things done to the car and you'll have a SMILE on your face. Good luck.
