  • Rear-end Problem/..to wide- please read and respond

    -ok... here i go-

I bought an 84 SVO that had a 8.8 conversion rearend in it with the svo rear discs... and 96 mustang cobra rims and 245/45/17 tires.

Everything fit great ( along with the factory rims )

I then decided to switch to 99+ cobra rims and just found out i have a big problem!!!!!!!!!!!!! the rearend of the car is too wide!

    Questions:

1.) Do the stock 84 SVO axles fit right into the 87-93 8.8 rearend???

    if so....

2.) Are the factory 84 SVO axles longer then a stardard 87-93 axle?

    if so.....

3.) Could I just buy the aftermarket 5-lug axles designed for a 87-93 rear disc conversion- will that shorten my rearend wide???

4.) anyone know if by making the rearend narrower will the factory SVO rear discs be effected?? will parking brake hit shock?

sorry for being so long- Any help would be great!!!! thanks guys

IMO, the rear end isn't TOO wide....but rather. the wheels you have chosen have an incorrect OFFSET.
