Hello - just looking for some guidance before I get dirty under the hood. My '86 used to start easily and idle fine right after without giving the engine any gas. Now I must turn the key with the gas pedal depressed or else it will not start. I also have to stay on the gas for a while or else it will stall. Once the engine warms up it runs well without stalling and the idle returns to normal. I recently did a full tuneup with new plugs, fuel filter and PCV valve so I know these are OK. The problem happened rather suddenly versus a gradual process over time so it seems to me like a part failed somewhere. Any feedback would be much appreciated! SVOCA #210

It sounds like you may have left something unplugged or knocked something loose during your tune-up, based on the info you gave. I would suggest to go back over everthing and make sure there isn't anything disconnected or loose. The next step would be to pull the codes from the EEC to see if it can point you in a specific direction.Ted

Thank you for the feedback! The past few days the car has started fine so something may be on the way out instead of gone already. I will keep the ignition switch in mind and give everything under the hood a once over to make sure it is all where it should be.
