  • Ford Motorsport Fenders

    HAPPY ELECTION TUESDAY EVERYONE!

I recently began stripping the body of my horribly neglected Comp Prep to find bondo-bondo everywhere. In light of this new development and the purchase of a nice set of 17" 95-96 Cobra's from Evil-Bay...I've decided to go glass. As in previous posts I've been looking for both original and flared fenders as options. The bondo in the rear quarters clinched it...

Flared all around. Now I just need to find the fenders.

Does anyone know where I might be able to find a set of original style Ford Motorsport Fenders. I've attached a pic to jog your memories...any help would be very much appreciated.

These are not the Mier Racing pieces...they have rounded flares.

The Ford Motorsport ones have a profile similar to the mid-eighties Capri, but they accomodate 10' wide wheels with factory axles...or bigger with sn95's.

Another thing, if no one is making these at the current time, would there be sufficient interest on the board to petition a vender or two?

    You could try this.

Obviously, nothing is going to be truely "bolt on" but this will get you a heckuva lot closer.

This is/was the old JBA Dominator kit, now sold by wings west.

Hey! That scoop on the car on that link might even work better than the stock SVO.
That kit looks pretty similar to the old Ford Motorsport one.
If it ain't broke... Give me some time!

        Wings West

I've seen it and it would work but the rub strips for the 87-93 stang won't match the SVO front end or rear bumper faux rub strips...

were it not for that, perfect is what they would be

          Dude,

Just don't buy their "side moulding kit(s)" and use mouldings from any 79-84 mustang. Easy to find at any jy in So-Cal.

The air dam would even work if you didn't mind losing the fog lights...

Ain't nothing gonna be more bolt-on than that kit.

            check this company out
Ford Mustang fiberglass and suspension parts since 1969.

They have been making Mustang fiberglass racing parts since the early 80s.

I understand what you are saying but the rub strips which are molded into the fenders (87-93 style) don't match the style of rub strips (79-84) on the bumpers of the svo.

In the photos the detail can be hard to see.

The mier racing ones are rounded and not the same style...

I put in a request to the guys at mier after seeing a car with the motorsport pieces outside their garage in a pic. No response as yet. I will keep the community posted as soon as I hear something, I'll let everyone know.

                UPDATE!

I believe I may have found a set of Motorsport look-a-like fenders made by a Canadian company.

They market the fenders as reproductions of the IMSA Capri fenders.

                More info to follow...

                  Getting Closer!!!

I found a really good fiberglass shop in Ontario that does pretty nice work. If anyone's interested I can forward your info or you can email him.

I sent him pictures of Lee's car as a reference but he knew what I was talking about before seeing the pictures. Turns out he's been fiddling with making a kit available but hasn't gotten around to it until now as he wasn't sure if anyone would buy it.

Thought I'd give the club first dibs before heading to corner carvers.
