  • Bi-wing Delete

My 86' 2A was originally a Bi-Wing delete car. My brother-in-law who owned the car before me thought all SVO's came with the bi-wing so he put one on.I am wanting to put a single spoiler on. My question is will a spoiler from a 87 - 93 LX fit on my SVO? If not what year and style, LX or GT, shouls I be looking for?

The single spoiler option is a LX wing. It should be painted to match the body color. I'm pretty sure the 87-93 wings were the same ....but not 100%.

Bud, are you sure about the color of the single wing?

I have only seen two bi-wing deletes and both had gray spoilers. It is a bit odd, but both cars were white if that makes any difference. I spoke to one of the owners about his car, since it was for sale back in 1997 or so, he was the original owner and was very specific that he hadn't modified the car since its purchase.

I am not trying to be a pain, but I thought they came with gray spoilers just like the rest of the SVO line. Of course it would make sense that they were body colored, like the LX & GT models of the time.

My 86 9L is an original bi-wing delete vehicle. The spoiler came from the factory painted to match the vehicle.

              Wing color...

Every Bi-wing delete I have seen from white to black, the wing matched the body color.
Ever SVO with the Bi-wing I have seen the wing was black on the early ones and gray on the later ones.

                bi-wing delete - 1986

Here's my 9L (white) with a white single spoiler(bi-wing delete). I know that the lower wing on a bi-wing has a flat spot on the front leading edge on each side to accept the upper wing. - Look for this to tell if someone has just taken off the upper wing. The single wing will have a finished, rounded edge.

                  Golden Ticket!

I found my build sheet today - any of you know how to read the build sheet to confirm a bi-wing delete car?

                  Thanks,

I confirmed that mine was a bi-wing delete car by the original window sticker. I haven't compared it to the build sheet. Perhaps when I start rebuilding the vehicle I can locate the build sheet and compare it with the window sticker.

                      build sheet

                      Victor,

I found my build sheet under the carpet behind the Drivers seat. It was easy to get to - I removed the lower rear seat and lifted the carpet - easy - if it's there! Find yours and lets compare.

                      Thanks,

I had all that stuff out of my car, and still can't find the build sheet.

So I guess someone already pulled mine out

Eric, Build sheets can be hidden anywhere or nowhere. There is no guarantee that the build sheet made it out of the factory. I found mine stuffed down in the rear quarter under the filler neck and unfortunately it was rotted with water/age. I was only able to salvage about 1/4 of the sheet. The only part that is still easily readable is the VIN # portion.

yep, but I've had about every part of my car apart, so it either didn't make it out of the factory with it, or someone has already grabbed it out...

BUT:: Someone did leave some nice numbers on the front of the engine compartment.... the numbers are 17 4 17 86, with a smiley face under each of the 7's.

this coresponds to the 4/86 date that is on the drivers door, so maybe someone from ford decided to leave me a nice note on my car...

I ordered a 999 report a long time ago, and never got it, so i called and ordered a new one this week, so maybe i can check and see if that is the right dates.

I'm assuming the first 17 means it was the 17th car off the line that day ??????

I've also been told that some auction houses use numbers like this to ID thier cars, so it could be that too, but who knows!!!
