Early Comp Prep ?

Did the early comp prep cars have the normal speaker grills and 5X8 cut outs? I guess this would be directed at the 84 and early 85 cars without radios.

Comp Prep

My early 85, (3/85) does not have any speakers, speaker holes, or anything, just smooth rear quarter panel trim.

My 85 comp prep has speaker holes that have been cut, I didnt think it should have had them. Thanks for the clarification.

The 84 comp prep should have speakers in the rear because all of them came with radios.

As far as I have found out the 86 comp preps had speaker grills but no speakers.

Thanks guys for the input. It is greatly appreciated! I don't know if I buy into the idea that 84s came with the radio but this is for another car similar to the svo, so I'm not really questioning the comp prep facts for 84.

Here is what I have found so far relating to it.

I located my 1984 Ford Sound System Catalog. It doesn't mention specifically about making any cut outs for any model car. It does mention that any Mustang or Capri with any radio (even AM), came with rear speaker wiring. Radio delete cars did not have rear speaker wiring. There were several kits lists to install a MTR radio (ETR not available in these cars) in the Mustang and Capri.

Conclusion: It would seem there were rear interior panels without cut outs at least up to 84 (starting in 79). Possibly the same for 85. Also remember there were numerous major changes incorporated mid-year 85 on the Mustang and probably the Capri too. This is referred to as the 85.5 model. Any round speaker holes were probably not factory Ford.
