do the comp prep cars still have speaker grilles? do they have anything behind the grille? they had a block off plate for the radio right? were any other early mustangs with the same dash pieces but not fuzzy......were any of the cars made with no hvac? errrr......the comp preps only had no a/c and they were lacking a vent right? because my old 85 gt was without a/c and had all the vents. but those panels arent the same anyway. am i asking too much? i basically want to make my car a comp prep.

The 85's did not have speaker grills in the back, the 84s and 86s did. The only ones missing two of the vents in the dash were the 84 comp preps. The 85s and 86s all had 4 vents in the dash. The firewall is different on the non airconditioned cars. You cannot put the heater box form one to the other. Hope this helps.

Would that be "84 option delete" cars? I thought that in 84 there were no "comp preps"... just cars ordered with no or minimal options. or is this still up for debate? I know it's been discussed before.

Option 41C was available after Feb 29, 1984 were comp preps. I have located 5 of them 3 were raced in SCCA showroom stock. I am sure there are several more. Mine is pictured in the 2002 SVOCA show at Talladega on this site.

turning it into one, because thats what i like. and if there werent speaker grilles, were the whole panels different? or just had the hole there? i found out the hard way that no ac and ac have different firewalls after i took all of my stuff apart and a junkyard car apart and tried to put it in.

So what year are you trying to turn into a Comp Prep? 84 or 85?

its an early 85.

Ah I see, I have an 84 Comp Prep Fuzzy dash trim on my early 85, It is not correct but it is fun to see the reaction of SVO guys when they see it!! Most people do not even notice, but its fun when they do!!!!!!!!

I have not taken any yet...I tore the headliner out to replace and am waiting for the new headliner, The rear hatch area is a mess ( with headliner parts stewn everywhere ) I will get some pics posted in the next little while!
