  • look what i did...

does this put me on the wall of shame because i took sandpaper to an svo? the madness has started. it has to be done and i couldnt wait anymore. peeling paint be gone. one question... i cant figure out how to get the antenna cover off of the base. i think it just pops off. my rubber grommet is swollen and wont let it free easily. just asking before i mess it up. i know that the base is held with screws but the antenna cover wont let go?

    antenna

i think that if you will take a common(flat screwdriver) and put across the fender with the tip just under the lip of the cover and pry up gently it should pop off. you might want to put something with a little strength under the screwdriver shank to absorb the downward pressure and not put a crease in the top of the fender. i am sure that mine are like yours.

diesel, you really should take off the mirrors, window trim, door locks, side spats, headlights, taillights, etc. Anything you can do to have as little tape lines as possible is good. I know you said you dont have much time but you can have that stuff off in a couple hours.

It is especially important on the door locks and window trim because they tend to have old wax down behind them that can really screw up the finished product. When dealing with automotive paint you should have the attitude that anything that can go wrong WILL. Good prepwork and cleaning is the key to a good finish. If you get some dust or runs in the paint it can be fixed with some wet sanding/buffing. Witch I almost always do anyway.

GAboySVO, thanks for the compliment. I would love to be there but it is unlikley ill make it this year. I still have alot of parts to get for the car that are quite expensive and ive went way too deep into this car to start cutting corners now. But I will definetly be there next year. Hopefully with about 400HP
