Ok I have heard rumor that the 05 rims are similar backspacing and offset as the SVO. Is there any truth to this?

Well I seen an 05 GT with Bullitts so I would ASSume they are similar.

Hey Eric, all you have to do is talk Chris Weber into trying an 05 wheel on his SVO and report the results!

Its funny you mention this. I was thinking of doing that exact thing just for grins. Perhaps I'll speed up my timeline a bit. Weather is OK here so maybe this weekend or next.
Is there anything specific to look at? Or do I just slap the wheel up front and see if it spins? I got the polished aluminum wheels, not the bullitt's, if that matters.
My SVO isn't lowered, and the Dunlop 225/50-16's are some 25-inches in diameter. The GT has 235/55-17's and tires are some 27-inches in diameter. Not sure if that is a probelm or not.
        Merry Christmas SVOCA!

Pat that is why you make the big bucks.

I would love to know if this rumor is true. that would open a door for our cars tremendously for aftermarket rims. Not that I dont like the stock rims but a little variety would be nice.

              05 Wheel Offset

I have a friend who is in the aftermarket car stuff. He just emailed me and said the 05 Mustang rims have
"a 30 offset front and 50 offset rear"
Not sure if that helps but I still plan on stickin' one on the SVO front when it gets above 50 degrees out here on the East Pole!

                I brought this up a while ago.http://www.svoca.com/forum/showthrea...&threadid=6598
But since found out more info. Stock 17x8 SN95 is 5.72 offset, '05 is 5.295 offset so it should be inset .425 inch more to the inside, sweeeeet. Not sure on the 16x7 V6 wheels but I would think they should be similar, just 1 inch less on the inside. I have seen the Bullitt wheels in the pictures but they do not look the same to me. They look a little different.

Edit: My friend who works at Ford faxed me a printout of the '05 wheels. Looks like there are 8 available. 4 aluminum, 1 steel spare and 2 regular steel and they all have '05 part numbers, even the Torque Thrust style. Only $150 ea.

I am still curious if what my friend says is true, then the rear wheels (17-inch) are different from the front???
                  Does this sound right?

Ford does not list different wheels for front and rear. Maybe the aftermarket does. If you have an "05 Motorsport catalog they are listed in there. The one problem I see is using those wheels with stock front rotors. SN95 stuff should be much better.

These sound like "Back spacing" numbers to me. That would mean the wheel is .425 inch more to the "outside". Can anyone else confirm this? Back spacing is from the flat part of the wheel that sits on the brake to the inside lip of where the tire bead hits the wheel.

Everything I've seen on the 05 specific forums says the stock wheels are 17x8 with a 45mm offset. I KNOW that the 05's have more backspacing than the SN95 cars, Ford has mentioned it in many articles and such.

The first time I heard the 45mm offset specs for the new car, all I could think about was how cheap some good fitting wheels for the SVO will be soon (as they currently are for the poor fitting sn95 wheels).

Also, the bullits on the 05's are most certainly different than the old ones. The spokes are "flatter" on the face to account for less "lip" on the outside of the wheels.

                            Otto,
Did you try the rim on the front yet? will it clear the hub?

The weather has really sucked lately here on weekends so I am chomping at the bitt to check this. Maybe THIS coming weekend will give me a chance.
Would've done it today but spent the afternoon watching them put brakes on the TT. What a wasted day off
