  • reapiring defrost rear hatch

when i obught my car, the cable from the hatch to the glass,( or actually the little metal tap on the glass) was hanging down from the hatch....when i threw out my old gt hatch, i kept the good glass with the tabs still attached. it looks like the metal tab(driver's side) has tried to have been soldered before. is it possible to reattach this piece to the glass, or should i ditch this glass and install my old gt glass? also, how does the drip rail moulding come off? i had to leave them on when i painted my gt, and about 2 months ago, i dented the svo's mouldings and want to replace them.

The drip rails will slide off after you remove the screw that attaches it to the A pillar.

I have resoldered one on my 85 TC. Not fun in there... Very carefully clean the "metal" on the glass with VERY fine stuff like steel wool or 1000 grit. Not too hard just to shine it up... like wise on the tab. I used a soldering iron, not a gun they can get too hot to quick. Be patient, hell take the hatch off and set it on some sawhorses so its flat. If remember correctly I even used some flux on the pieces to facilitate bonding.

He-he, heck no. However It did move under its own power. I pulled it out of the garage for fall cleanup. I gotta get a radiator, mine leakss down about 6" from the top. Still picking up bits & Pieces here and there to make it look like a car again.

Sorry for digging this old thread up...but which way do you slide it? I'm about tempted to just let the paint shop take it off for fear of breaking it.
