Hey guys. I want to put a tag on the front of my car, but I don't want to drill holes in the bumper cover. Anybody ever mounted a license plate bracket without drilling holes? Or anybody got any ideas? I can't even find a bracker for an 84 SVO. Thru searchs, I found threads that say the 85 will fit the SVO though.

I'll work on a design these next few days. I need it too (mother in law passed away last night) so I need projects.
I'm thinkin that strut material (with holes in it) can be bent around the real metal "bumper" and up to the front. Maybe some cushioning stuff too.
I have the same issue, only dodged it for 20 years.
Keep ya posted (if I can)

Yea, I know. I'm trying to get past it. I don't have to mount a state issued plate on the front of my car, but I have a cool "Vanity" Plate I want to mount on it. I just hate to drill holes for something like that, because a new cover is so expensive and I may want to take it off of the car someday.Originally posted by lonchair
If you get past the bracket screw hole phobea, you can get a standard plastic plate holder for a 87-93 car from Late Model Resto Supply. They mount up just fine to an SVO bumper and look better than the original folded metal plate holder.1984 Mustang SVO 1C Leather and Sunroof

Here is a low tech solution: Get a plastic 87-93 style holder, Use some VHB tape to adhere the vanity plate in the holder and also to mount the holder to the bumper.
You may have to do some sanding off of some of the mounting tabs to get the back of the holder flat so you can use the tape. Also when you decide to remove the holder, alcohol will remove the residue.
