So the other day I washed my car and thought that a little spin around the block to do some drying would be fun. While traveling along at about 30mph I had a right front tire blowout. The road turned and the car didn't. The rear end hopped the curb and I proceeded to slide sideways rear end on the sidewalk and front on the street until clipping an old lady's "phertunias" and broadsiding a 4ft cement pole. The door needs obvious replacement. The quarter panel needs a gererous amount of work and the rear bumper cover/taillight needs replacing as well. I was quoted $3,181 by a local body shop. Considering that I have about $3,800 in the car and am a highschool student with little income, that is somewhat out of the question. I'd turn it into insurance but they wouldnt think twice about totaling and if at all possible I'd like to save an otherwise very clean original car from that. So without much expirience in body work I am attempting to do as much as I can to keep the cost down and maybe get someone to do the finish work and spray it. Here comes the questions. Sacremento Mustang has a reproduction bumper cover for $119. Has anyone used these and knows about the fit on them? I've found a few doors at wrecking yards in the 35 to 100 dollar range. How hard is it to convert a roll up door to the power doorlocks/windows I have in mine? I also am in need of wheels. The front one has a nice flat spot from skiing on pavement and the rear one a nice dent from hopping the curb. Anybody have an sources for any of these parts? Thanks for all the help - I love the car and want to get it back on the road as soon as possible.

Sorry for your troubles!
I'm sure the rear repro bumper cover would be fine. I have one (not purchased through Sac Mustang however) on my 83 GT Turbo that looks and works fine. Be aware that the rear cover used on the 84-86 SVO was also used on the regular 79-84 Mustang and on the 79-82 Mercury Capri. You might find a good used cover in a local yard for less than the new repro, about $30-50.
I would suggest from the picture that your door is toast. Find a good power 82-86 Mustang door in a local yard. You should be able to get one for between $45-75 complete. It is not worth the effort to convert a manual door to power. Buy a power one and save yourself a headache.
As for your rear quarter, that I would leave to a professional body shop. A good shop might be able to pull out and save your existing quarter. Alternatively, you can replace the entire quarter with one out of a junkyard 79-86 Mustang. It doesn't have to be an SVO. Again replacement of the quarter is best left to the pros.
Wheels are easily available. Check the parts for sale section. Also you could have your wheels repaired. There are companies that specialize in straightning bent and damaged alunimum wheels. Wheel Worx in Maryland is one such company. Alternatively, there are probably other such repair companies closer to where you live.

good info on parts
You can use doors up to 93 no problem. The metal and glass is all the same but the guts are different. i mention this because you may find a better rust free door on a later stang. Thanks for the good info GABOY.
if you werent so far away I could hook you up with the door and wheels.Confucius says" a closed mouth gathers no foot"

Thanks for the help guys. Yeah I'm glad no one got hurt too - my neighbor was in the passenger seat and he's lucky the window was down and shattered inside the door... I'm thinking it wasn't worth the money saved on the used tires... Oh-well now I have an excuse to fix the other quarter that was somewhat poorly repaired by the PO.I'm 21 and I've owned 3 SVO's... Yeah I like 'em.

Used tires are never a good investment, but now you know...
Let us know how the repairs go. I also have a quarter to repair, and I have all the parts. I'll need to find a good bodyshop to do the deed. Or if you get good at it, I'll come over and let you fix it for me

local parts
You have quite a few places around you to pic from. I know that most parts you listed are common to all mustangs of that year but I've got a couple place that I know that have svo's in thier yard. Bobs ford parts has two, he said they are pretty picked through though. and Rose city auto wrecking has 1 that is also somewhat picked at but still has the moter and I think the right side of the car was still in tack last time I looked at it that was around 3 weeks ago. I dont remember the condition though.
