Hey has annyone ever annodized these wheels? I assume it could be done right? Is it a violation of any ethics codes of restoration? I'de love to see pics I just think a subtle hue would really bring this car to life.

    You're crazy!

Yes, if it's aluminum, it can be annodized. I've never seen it done.

annodizing your rims wont be a good thing IMHO. Reason being it would scratch very easy. I looked into a while back and didnt go for it. I just polished to look like chrome. If your looking to doing something diffrent i would powder-coat

If the rims were hard annodized in clear I would think that they would have a harder surface finish than either the clear coat or a powder coat. I may be wrong, but we used to use hard annodize on aluminum for tooling and fixtures when we wanted to protect it from wear. It created a very hard surface, I don't remember the exact hardness on the B or C scale but it was pretty good.

I would think it would be fairly expensive though.

        Just a thought.

Are you talking about Elox coating? If so It is expensive but worth it for tooling. I am not sure how it would look on a wheel? But I have only seen one color of it, gold. There may be others.

As best as I can remember, Elox is not what is normally called hard annodized but a different process. There is a "normal" annodize process which is not "hard" and is used mainly for corrosion protection but is not much harder than the base metal.

We had to specify "hard" annodize to get the process I am referring to.

More than that and it would tax my memory too much, thats the second to go, isn't it?

Powdercoat... much more durable and can be done in an array of colors. Had my 17' wheels done in white and never had a problem.
