  • Reunion Autox Idea

First off - FEEDBACK - please. I hate making decisions without any feedback from people who will be attending the Reunion. Please give me some here. If you've never been to one, you're welcome to comment - but please take into account the fact, you've never been to one.

Gator called and left one of the perverted messages on my cell phone (it's a weekly thing), but this time he actually had a pretty cool idea.

    SVO Civil Wars

The premise is this; During the normal autox competition we put everyone's name who's participating in two hats. One from the North and one from the South. Californias will be put in with the yankees just for general purposes. We draw out 3 names from each hat. Their times best times will be added together - the team with the lower combined time is the winner. We make a yearly thing. No extra cost. Gator thought the losers should buy the winner's a beer, but some people don't actually stay another night afterwards - so I figured the club would award the winning team a "SVO Civil War" trophy to each team member.

Where you currently live denotes which hat you get put into. The Mason Dixon line is the deciding factor. I know, it kinda sucks because tradtionally - the SVO owning Southerners are better drivers.

    ....you mean "were." :p

In anycase i'm in for it. I think it would help promote a bit more intrest in how others are running that day and promote a couple more cheers and jeers. ( Depending which side of the fence you are on. )

Instead of just looking at who you have to beat for one position and who is breathing on yer neck...you can also be rooting for your "team" ( selected at random, mind you ) and take an intrest in their runs.

Whatcha guys ( and gals ) think ?

PS...THE NORTH WILL ..RISE....again ??........wait, that doesnt make much sense. Nevermind.

In anycase lets hear what you guys have to say !!

Nothin' like a little territorial competition to focus the mind and raise the adreneline levels. Sounds like a good (fun) idea to me.

            That's a question for Eric C. He's the Reunion organizer/committee chairman.

I have to wait til the SCCA plans their schedule, (usually late februrary) then plan the hotel dates.

I'm debating on using the same hotel we used last year. the service last year was not what we were accustomed to in the previously.

Maybe I need to start another thread, and see what others think?
the hotel we used is VERY convient, and they have the best meeting rooms in town.

in KY -- it's only illegal to have concealed weapons. as long as they are in clear view, it's ok

-- but you will probably have people complain, which means you will have a officer come ask you to put them away.

hey -- you wanna wear yours, I'll wear my mine

Uh .... yeah, it's called the 2nd Admendment. Duh.

JayG - I'll see about getting us some Johnny Reb hats. Dent sells them in his 'store'. BTW - remember, they're not 'cross drawn'.

Eric - I really didn't mind the hotel. I remember some people complaining about service, but I really didn't notice. I was having too much fun or maybe I was trying to sober up. My vote is for convience.

Sounds like a cool idea....can't believe Gator came up with it!

I don't consider Maryland south of the Mason Dixon though...even though I know it is. I guess I'll put Ohio on my registration form this year......

The South is going to do it again.....

                      What?! Lose!

                        North vs South.

Sounds like a side bet to me.
Anything to add to the fun and drama of the race.
Gator, good show for the idea.
Time to clean up the engine bay!

What latitude was that Mason Dixon line? I even brought an Atlanta car to the Reunion. Oh well, I guess I have to fly in to Cleveland and scam a ride. I'll check into Auto Club extended tow service.
