I just purchased an '86 SVO. I'm trying to decide if it's finacialy wise to try and save it. It's been pretty abused but most of the parts seem to be there. Someone has replaced the header panel with a 87-93 mustang header panel. What would I need and are the parts available to put an SVO header panel back on? Thanks for any help!!!

yes, the parts are available
the bumper cover has been reproduced,
the header panel is available from SVPU (on backorder at the moment tho
the headlight buckets are available from svpu
the headlights have been reproduced
the inner markers have been reproduced
the only hard part is outter marker lights. there are still right hand side nos available, but lefts are harder to find.
If the car is not rusty, it should be 'saved' it doesn't have to be returned to original to be enjoyed, and driven.
If you're still not intersted in saving it, sell it to someone that is.
If you haven't already, add it to the registry.

Thanks for the info. I'm definitly keeping it. I just wanted to make it look like an SVO. The drive train, wiring and computer is gone, but other than the header panel the body is great. I'm leaning toward making an autocross car out of it. Is it "unacceptable" in the SVO community to run a 302 in it? I would never part it out. Also, if I put in an 8.8 rear, will the 7.5 disc brakes bolt right on? Thanks again.84 svo

If you are going to Autocross the car, why not use a 2.3T and enjoy the superior weight distribution that SVO's are noted for. It shouldn't be too hard to find a good engine and trans out of an 87-88 Turbocoupe.
The 8.8 is a bolt in with a brake and axle swap from the SVO 7.5. If you can find one out of a 87-88 TC with auto, it comes with the correct 3.73 gears already installed!
