  • Questions about headlights on early 85 SVO

I need all of the plastic and metal clip-in things that the headlight adjuster screws screw into. I also need the springs that hold the headlights in.
Are these interchangeable with any other cars? The plastic one on top looks like something I've seen before, but the metal one on the side looks pretty wierd.
I may make a trip to junkyard and need to know what to look for. I know they did some "kentucky engineering" to facilitate the sealed beam lights versus the composite ones, so I hope they didn't use some hard to find parts.
    Thanks
If it ain't broke... Give me some time!

Look for cars (and Vans) from the 1983 production year (maybe even 82'). The 84-85 lights were 'off the shelf' parts that Ford used until DOT approval for the flush style lights of 85.5-86.

      Thanks Bud,
Yea, a Ford Aerostar minivan was going to be the first thing I looked for, but they seem to not even make it to the junkyard. They just rust away in peoples yards!
I'll post what I find out in my ventures.

You would be surprized at what you can find at your local parts house, check out the help isle.
If you don't come up with what you need I may have it ,I saved all the hardware I could from my old bumper cover&headder pannel,I was going to save it just in case, but if you need,I will see what all I have.

          My solution...

After some trial & error, I've found what works...They are "Help" items... But CarQuest had to order them in.
Unfortunately, I've only got the packages here now, and don't know which is which. But the Headlight adjuster assemblies are 42185 & 42186... One is a Ford/Mercury 1978-up application, the other is for 78-86 trucks/Broncos. Mine were screwed together, but I had to unscrew them & reverse them. I pushed them thru from the backside of the headlight panel (SVPU product...required some modifications). This may not be necessary on the factory part though. I used som springs from the hardware store... Worked fine.
My SVO is street legal now & will be making it's debut at our club display at the Ford Fan Appreciation Day tomarrow!
