What length mufflers are people using on the SVO's when they upgrade their exhaust? I have noticed 9", 11" and 14" mufflers seem pretty common. I plan on using the stock 2 1/4 pipes and upgrading to a better flowing muffler. What is the sound/performance difference between different length mufflers. Does anyone know what length mufflers are stock to the SVO? Mine is in storage and I have not had a chance to measure the mufflers.
Dynomax lists a 14" muffler for these cars, but from the factory one muffler is silghtly longer than the other to cut down on droning.
A longer muffler, depending on its design, will probably restrict the exhaust more than a shorter one all other things held equal. Although in most aftermarket cat backs I've seen tend to use mufflers that are close to the stock size to minimize installation headaches.

On the stock system, the driver side muffler is 14" and the passenger side is 18". There is plenty other info if you decide to look through previous posts on the exhaust subject.
