    Jan,

First off, let me say that I have never seen this piece, except for pictures...but all I have heard about all of ATR's stuff is that the fitment to the car is less than to be desired, especially when you consider the price range ($400-$450 for a downpipe). I just can't see spending that kind of money on a piece of pipe. I know it's stainless, uses an external wastegate, etc. but JEEZ_LOUISE! That's a lot of coin. I would think you could have one custom made for that kind of $$$$.

Anyways, that is my little rant and my .02 e-cents. You see, I was all excited about ATR about 6 months ago. I was going to start saving money for that header of theirs. Then, everyone I talked to said it was a piece of crap and it is prone to crack, and that they are S.O.B.'s to deal with. So, I called them. I asked them if they knew about the cracking problem, and whether or not they had plans to modify it to eliminate this, or if they guaranteed it against cracking, etc.

Well, "they never heard of such a thing" "our product is of the highest quality" and my favorite:" I could give you a list of satisfied customers to call and ask" Well, I know several of their (un)"satisfied" customers. They have tried and tried to get them to help, and resolve problems, but they want no part of it.

So, I guess what I am saying is, be careful of who you deal with out there. There are alot of people out to make a buck.

Okay, I guess that's the end of my rant.....sorry.....

Hope this helps, or whatever...to each their own....

Nope I don't mind the rant at all. I need all the input I can get. These cars are a rare breed and I learned my lesson with my Shelby Z that you get what you pay for. At best I think I will port my E6 manifold and get a turbo. The car came with a 3" downpipe but not like the ATR piece. The header looks like under extreme conditions it would crack. Meaning hardcore drag racing were the heat index under the hood is near 600f all the time so I can see some issures with it.

I have the ATR down pipe on my car. It fits like crap. I had to bend the firewall to make it work cause when I realised it didn't fit, it was already in the car. If I was doing it again, I would heat up the downpipe and flatten out the part that rubs (I got this idea from Dave at Tiny Avenger-he has had problems with then fitting also).

As for the performance one it is on your car, pipe great, wastegate bad. The ATR wastegate leaks at low boost levels so you have to rev the piss out of your car to get it to build boost. Everyone I have met with this ATR pipe has that same complant. A TiAL 35mm wastegate has the same bore spacing as the ATR piece so they are kinda-sorta interchangeable. I am switching to the TiAL piece as soon as I find the time.

The other downside is that the ATR pipe places the wastegate in the same spot as the EGR tube as it runs into the exhaust manifold. Acording to ATR, I am mistaken on this, but everyone else I've met with the pipe has the same problem. The only solution is to put a 90 degree fitting on the manifold and bend up a custom EGR tube, or just cut it off if you don't have to worry about emissions stuff.

Ther you have it. Hope it helps
