  • E3 cracked

The E-3 on my car is cracked. From what I have read going with an E-6 is a better choice than an E-3. Is this correct?

My engine is stock now. However I am going to most of the bolt on upgrades with time. I am also going to do a full 3 inch exhaust. There are ported E-6's available for a little more money. Should I get the ported E-6, stick with the stock E-6 or stay E-3?

    Thanks X

If you're not going to go with any other header, then the E6 is the best choice. It is far less prone to cracking than the E3s are. My old E3 had a crack next to the turbo flange as do most others.

I wouldn't pay more than about $50-60 for one, ported or not.

I payed $40 for a ported E6 about a month ago. the E6 is a nice budget upgrade over the stock cracked E3.

I actually think the E3's came pre cracked from the factory.

Do you guys think the ported e-6 is ok to go with on my combo? Would there be any big advantage for me to go with a header? Thanks X

          header

The more the intake and exaust flow the beter the performance on our cars. Yes the e6 will be fine unless you realy want some big dyno numbers. I have seen dyno shets that almost hit 300 with a ported e6 in the combination. If you are not into concourse than dump the e3.

          good luck

Go with the E6. It's cheap and easy! Best bang for the $. Also everything bolts back together easly. There are no fitment issues as with a header!

Depends on the header but yes there can be issues.

                  Turbo Gasket Install Set

Go to the parts store and order Felpro gasket set ES72811. That has all the gaskets you need to install your turbo onto the manifold. It retails for $5-6.

They will probably have to special order it as nobody seems to stock these. It usually takes a day or two to get them.

I got it from one of members of a turbo t-bird club/site. He sells a used E-6 guaranteed no cracks for 65.00. Shipping is extra. He will port the manifold for 95.00. I have ported plenty of things in my time. For the 95.00 bucks it was worth it to me even if its only port matched. He says he goes inside the manifold as far as he can. I watched e-bay for a few days and it looks like 65.00 is about the right price for an E-6. (a few went for a little less a few went for more) XXXXXXXX

I just ordered one from Adavance Auto Parts. I had to go to a couple different stores before i found one that carried Felpro. You can also get it through www.partsamerica.com but will probably pay more more shipping than the part.
