  • Clear Coat After Polishing Wheels?

Has anyone put clear coat on their wheels after polishing them? If so what did you use, and how did it hold up?

I know the shop here told me they used an automotive/high heat' clear then baked in an oven....has the 'wet' look ....

I am going to refinish mine with the machine look and powercoat them clear. Pretty cheap, $40 per wheel.

I've always been told if its polished it won't hold conventional clearcoat "paint". There isn't anthing for it to hold onto vs. a machined surface... Hence the reason people clear powdercoat it. I found this out years ago when I wanted to polish the wheels on my harley. I just decided finally to polish them myself last month. I also did a spot on one of the SVO wheels for grins and giggles. Check out the pic of my bike wheel in polished wheel pictures post. I can't repost the pic here...

You can go here for 69.99 http://www.harborfreight.com/ to get the powdercoater, then just use your own oven, preferably when the wife is out.
