    Removal of shift knob.

The shift knob just unscrews. No other disassembly is required.

I have done mine several times...

All I did was twist it in the counter clockwise direction really hard. It will then simply unscrew. If it is the original knob setup, there is a washer and jam-nut under the boot itself. This is to prevent the knob from coming loose under normal circumstances.

If you want to be more careful, you could lift the plastic cover at the base of the boot, and get to the nut from underneath, I have just never done it this way.

      Hope that helps...

If the knob has never been off it will take a good bit of effort to get it started. I had to take my console to get my knob off. It really isn't that hard.

Yea - You have to loosen the locking nut from underneath the boot. This is the only way I could get mine off, thought I was a pussy too!

got it done took apart the center console, the 99 cobra shifter knob works, the set screw had to be removed because the threading is deep in the knob... its worth the 35 bucks thanks guys
