  • Dump tube?

Well I did a search for this topic and came back empty. For those with a external WG what are you using for a dump tube? Where can I get the small 1" tubing to make one? And finally how and where are you routing it? I think directly back into the exhaust through the DP with one of these flanges would be best. http://www.atpturbo.com/Merchant2/me...egory_Code=FLS
Also doe's anyone make a flex 1'' pipe? That would be really easy to route down to the exhaust.

Well I found some nice 1" dumptube from Turbo Cty and got that on order. I guess I will be cutting and fitting that together too like the downpipe/WG arrrangement.

I have some experience with designing and fabing exhaust and headers. I have some 2.5”, 3” SS stock at home. I have a few different degree bend types if your interested. I fabricated my whole exhaust myself Y- pipe and everything. Basically I CAD'ed it out and plotted it out a work. Bingo this was my template.

My friend and I are working on GT headers now. If I remember I’ll post a pic Monday when I get to work.

      BTY, I am in Columbus.

This is a 427 with a T44 transaxle. The pipe is 2.25” diameter. This is for a MkII GT that I’m also working on. As if the SVO is not enough.

            Thanks

Try to plumb the wastegate dump tube into the down pipe down stream if possible...also try to merge it in at a gentle angle, not at 90 degrees with that weld bung you showed.

I'm using an ATR down pipe with a Tial 35mm wastegate. I have had no real problems with the ATR down pipe and wastegate mounting configuration. The ATR wategate however was a piece of complete junk.

It allowed me to use an external wastegate with minimal fabrication and the dump tube is built into the down pipe.

Actually, you can run the wastegate outlet down underneath the car without it going back into the downpipe. if it does go back into the downpipe, follow Tim's advice closely. It can have an adverse effect on exhaust backpressure if not.

If it does not go back into the down pipe, then in order to be legal, it would half to be full length and exit at the rear of the passenger compartment since it is techicly an exhaust pipe. Is that right? If you are even concerned with street legal. My old vehicle inspection manual never adressed a turbo wastegate outlet.

why not just put a briggs and stratton muffler on the dump tube,if a big deal.

In looking this up, Corky Bell (car racer, designer, Mr. Turbo) states in his book that IF an external wastegate is used, it is best to not route it back into the exhaust. But, if it is necessary, make sure it is greater than 18" from the initial (first) exhaust flange....meaning where the downpipe meets the turbo on our application. In addition, ensure it goes into the exhaust where it will flow as natural as possible with the normal exhaust gases, and not cause turbulance and minimal backpressure.
