  • pcv valve

Can someone post a picture of where the pcv valve is? my chilton book isn't even close, because its not where it says it is. or just explain where it's at... thanks

I can't post a pic, but I can tell you how to find it. (my pcv has been upgraded to a new location)

there is a hose that comes out of the bottom of the upper intake (not on the throttle body).  This hose is connected to the pcv valve.  The pcv valve will be about 3 inches below the top of the lower intake.

      pcv valve

Look at the curved black hose that his next to the front engine lift bracket in my picture. The PCV valve is located at the end of the black hose (hidden by the alternator in this picture)

that is a 86, or 85.5 svo (notice the square upper intake)

the pcv in that pic is right at the edge of the upper and lower intakes meet.  You can actually see it in that pic.

it is hooked up the same way on a 84, only difference is the intake is longer, it may be close to the alternator.

I have an 84. Yes, the PCV valve is directly behind the alternator.

Look carefully at the picture. The off-white object directly behind the orange electrical connector that the big black hose is attached to is the PCV valve. To replace it, you have to take the tensioning bolt completely out of the alternator bracket, remove the belts, and pull the alternator as far away from the top of the engine as possible. That way you will have easy access to the valve
