How can you tell if an 86 is ordered Biwing delete or if they just shipped it with the lx wing. I understand they had a shortage of upper wings..

a bi-wing delete is just a LX wing.
The only way to tell is with a 999 report from ford, and they usually aren't all that accurate. I've seen multiple reports on the same car that had different info, and about 1/2 the reports have the wrong tire size info on thm.
check the FAQ for how to get one.

well lets see. this started as a simple question. i will give what i think is the latest.
when i obtained my 86 straight run the original owner( i am the 3rd) apparently stated that it had been a bi wing delete. he told the 2nd owner that i did not look like an svo so he purchased the biwing and installed it.
fast forward in history: when obtained the svo i had ford do a '999'report. it said nothing about a bi wing delete. there fore i requested more information from fmc. the new information stated some things that the '999' report didnt. among them
1. license plate bracket
2.locking rear axle ratio
3.svo performance package
4.spoiler
presently: what is contained in the svo performance package?
what is the meaning of 'spoiler'?
when i obtained my 86 comp prep the buck tag had broken off. therefore i was unable to compare it with my 86 straight run.
however i do understand from other svo owners that there may be a lack of letters/numbers in the lower right hand corner. if this has any significense my supposedly bi wing delete does not have
any numbers/letters in this area.
at the present time we are attempring to obtain further information/clarification from fmc.
finally no one has come forward to provide the answer to the questions:
1. were there really any bi wing delete svos built?
2. what and where do you find the definative answer/information.

Marti auto works is going to be making reproduction window stickers from the Ford data base for our cars within the next 6 months or so. This should answer alot of questions. By the way a standard svo should have a bi-wing, you had to check a box to order one special with the single wing. Interesting thing, I talked to a guy from the midwest at a mustang show in Atlanta several years ago that had a bi-wing delete svo. He bought it new and got on the salesman about not haveing the bi-wing, so they bought him one to go on the car. He didnt say wheather he installed it or not. Might be your car. later
